Sue Karlan to speak at the 29th Annual Northeast Surety & Fidelity Claims Conference

SAN DIEGO, California – July 23, 2018. Sue Karlan, Esq., Senior Vice President at On Point Risk Solutions, will be speaking at the 29th Annual Northeast Surety & Fidelity Claims Conference, “The Inception of the Performance Bond Claim.” Karlan will be discussing pre-claims contacts by claims personnel and producers. The conference will be held September 26-28 in Atlantic City, NJ.

In its 29th year, the Annual Northeast Surety & Fidelity Claims Conference offers educational seminars and resources to those in the Surety and Fidelity industry. It will include an expert panel comprised of Karlan and other surety claims professionals who will share inside perspectives on the surety claims process, including:

• The legal standards for determining whether or not a bond producer may be an agent of the surety for the purposes of the claims process.
• The scope of the agency and extent of a producer’s knowledge or actions that could be imputed to the surety.
• Surety’s exposure to claims for negligence supervision in regards to a bonding agent’s knowledge.

Karlan is also Senior Vice President of Surety at ICW Group Insurance Companies, of which On Point Risk Solutions is a member company. She is an active member of the Surety and Fidelity Association of America, National Association of Independent Sureties, Surety Claims Institute, and Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Surety and Fidelity Law Committee.
